Another Saturday Night

May 2, 2010

I need to go to straight bars more often. It tends to lead to really good sex.

It’s a strange curse. I somehow attract straight men in gay bars (see previous post) and seduce women in straight bars.

Like last night. I called one of my guy friends and told him “I’m going to straight bars tonight!”

Which meant that I just want to bitch about my failing love life, his failing love life, have a few vodka shots, maybe some cheese curds, go home early, and get a full night’s sleep.

Right. So we had a few long islands, then he made me drink shots (not that i complained), then he told me that my ex is hot, and then I said, “one more shot and we’re going home”. And then, I asked a girl on my right if she could pass me some water. Somehow that evolved into a conversation about vodka.

Apparently she was a bartender on her night off. She is a Gemini. Likes Garbage and Russian literature.

I asked her if she was straight. She said “ummmm”. I took that as a “no”.

Somewhere in the middle of that conversation (maybe between Butch Vig and non-straightness), my guy friend disappeared and I told her that now she gets to walk me home. Along the way I realized we were walking to her home. She reasoned with me that it was way closer than mine and we might as well have another drink.

So we did. She had a nice collection of books. Milan Kundera, Dostoevski, Marquez. And nice… other things.

I left at 7:00, walked by a Starbucks, and had a chilled double-espresso shot. Threw my hangover right out of the window. Win.
